Germany is Europe's largest energy market. Alpiq has been canvassing this market since 2000 through its own Alpiq Energie Deutschland AG branch offices in Düsseldorf and Berlin.

Alpiq Energie Deutschland AG offers individual energy solutions for industrial customers, regional and municipal utilities as well as commercial customers. We help municipal utilities to secure their independence and their success as regional energy suppliers and service providers. Atel helps industrial customers to optimise their energy purchases.

In conjunction with the Crailsheim municipal utilities, the company founded ecoSWITCH AG in 1999. This partnership was followed in November 2001 by the foundation of EGT Energiehandel GmbH with EGT Energie GmbH.
