This concept, which has been introduced across Europe, is intended to simplify the marketing of green energy whilst creating the conditions for a competitive green power market, separate from that of electricity.

The certificates are issued by an independent authority for the benefit of any producer of electricity from renewable sources and vouch for a certain quantity of green power to customers who ask for them.
