Splügen small hydro power station

In conjunction with the municipality of Splügen, Alpiq is building a new small hydroelectric station. The joint venture, Kraftwerk Tambobach AG, is investing around CHF 9 million in the project. From 2012, the power station will generate electricity for some 1,400 households. The project fits the canton's declared objective of harnessing more energy from hydro power, the most important renewable energy in Graubünden.
